The Gambian Schools Trust charity co-ordinators Hillary and Steve Lawther were keen for us to see the wonderful construction work that they have overseen throughout the past seven years, not to mention the smiles of the children that study at their schools.
After one day and one night the team travelled back to the capital and enjoyed a much needed day-off at the beach! This will be the reward for the installation team after their three days of work on the school in Sinchu N Jabo.
In addition to the solar panel and inverter installation (providing the classroom with electricity), we intend to renovate the room, fit Perspex windows, a bespoke workbench, ceramic floor tiles as well as giving it a much needed lick of paint. Once a supply of electricity is established we will power up the computers that the good people of Cambridgeshire have donated and unveil the ‘Beechdale Energy IT Suite’ to the people of the village.
Find below a selection of images from the reconnaissance trip. Be sure to look out for an update of Beechdale Energy’s charitable exploits on Anglia news and in the local press.
*We are still asking for donations of old or unwanted laptops* Please contact 01223 264520 to make a donation before our installation trip in January.
